COVERT TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Palisades power plant on the Lake Michigan shore in Covert Township is starting to load nuclear fuel as it prepares to be refired.
Holtec Nuclear Corporation announced yesterday they have begun to load their reactor vessel.
After it’s loaded, the plant will undergo a series of inspections, tests and other startup activities.
Holtec is working to make Palisades the first nuclear plant in the U.S. to be refired after it was closed to be decommissioned.
