KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Officials with the city of Kalamazoo say contaminants have been found at Arcadia Creek Festival Place, which is amid a $3.6-million upgrade.
They say contaminants of metals along with “some volatile organic compounds and some hydrocarbon compounds” were found above contact thresholds.
The components are typical for soil that was used for filling sites with heavy industrial use before 1970.
The site has been closed with fencing for the past year, but some festivals have been held there, including Kalamazoo Pride.
