The Athletics fired pitching coach Scott Emerson on Monday after losing 13 of 14 games before the All-Star break.
Emerson, 54, had held the position since June 2017. Bullpen coach Dan Hubbs will be the interim pitching coach for the rest of the 2026 season.
Playing in hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, Calif., the Athletics (41-55) have the American League’s worst team ERA at 5.21.
Emerson originally joined the A’s organization as a minor league pitching coach in 2003. He joined the big-league staff as the bullpen coach in 2015.
