KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has identified the victim of this past Saturday’s fatal shooting in the 700 block of North Westnedge Avenue.
At approximately 2:50 a.m., KDPS officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area. While officers were responding, they learned 21-year-old Vontavion Arquice Dajuan Jackson of Kalamazoo had been shot. Jackson was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
KDPS says detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are working to identify everyone involved. Investigators believe there may be individuals who witnessed the incident or have information that has not yet been shared with police.
