PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Longtime Portage Mayor Pro-Tem Jim Pearson has announced that last night’s city council meeting would be his last.
Dr. Pearson is retiring after serving on city advisory boards and on the city council for nearly 40 years.
He has been on the council for multiple terms, most of them as mayor pro-tem.
Other council members including Chris Burns and Mayor Patricia Randall sang his praises, saying he will be missed, and encouraging him to sign up for other advisory positions.
The council will appoint a replacement to serve out the remaining year on Pearson’s term in the coming weeks.
