KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Roughly 3,700 Consumers Energy customers have no power as of 8 a.m. after a hit-and-run crash at Oakland Drive and Parkview Avenue that involved a vehicle hitting two power poles.
Consumers has crews on the scene making repairs and say they will be replacing both poles.
The repairs are expected to be complete and power turned back on for everyone by 9 p.m. tonight.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Consumers Energy has released this statement:
“Consumers Energy crews are on scene at Oakland and Parkview streets in Kalamazoo this morning after a vehicle struck two power poles around 2:30 a.m., interrupting electric service for about 3,500 customers. Consumers Energy expects to replace the poles and make other repairs throughout the day. The company is working with local authorities, which continue to investigate the crash. Consumers Energy appreciates the public’s patience. We are focused on restoring power as soon as possible and encourages people to check the company’s online outage map for updates.”
