BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 45-year-old Battle Creek man is in custody and facing assault charges following an incident involving shots being fired toward a Battle Creek Police Department vehicle late Saturday.
Battle Creek Police responded to the 100 block of Broadway Boulevard, shortly after 9:30 p.m. after reports of a man shooting a gun into the air.
When officers arrived they found a man sitting in front of his home, holding a gun pointed directly at the roadway. The man then fired a couple of shots as the BCPD patrol car was passing along the roadway, missing the vehicle. No one was injured.
Police say the suspect retreated back into his home before coming back outside and surrendering to officers a short time later.
The 45-year-old suspect was arrested and charges of felonious assault have been submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office.
