Governor Whitmer issues executive order protecting reproductive health data

LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has issued an executive order to protect reproductive health data four years after voters approved a constitutional amendment guaranteeing reproductive rights.

Executive departments and agencies will have to conduct a review of their policies around reproductive health data, including things like pregnancy, prenatal care, childbirth, abortion care, miscarriage management, and more.

They will then have to make any changes to ensure the data is protected and submit a report to the governor’s office within 45 days.

Whitmer says the order is “another important step in keeping our patients and providers safe.”
