KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County board is expected to put their stamp of approval on an interlocal agreement to take over the maintenance and operation of the Asylum Lake Preserve this evening.
The Western Michigan University board of trustees unanimously gave their vote of confidence to the transfer plan at their meeting on Friday.
No changes in the maintenance or operation of the large nature preserve are planned.
It won’t be finalized until the state of Michigan agrees to turn over the deed to Kalamazoo County, and that will take an act of the state Legislature.
