KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Voters who have failed to mail their absentee ballots still have options.
Kalamazoo City Clerk Scott Borling says you can drop it off at your local clerk’s office or if you live in the city, there are drop boxes that are collected daily by his staff.
“We have five ballot drop boxes, one here behind City Hall but then four others that are kind of in four corners of the city.”
They are located at the Douglas Community Association, the city’s Stockbridge office, the Eastside Neighborhood Association, Public Safety Station #7 on Parkview, and behind City Hall.
In Portage, there are drop-boxes at City Hall and Fire Stations #2 and #3.
“And of course drop boxes are open 24/7 so if you’re out at 2:00 a.m. and you feel the need to drop off your ballot, you can put it in a drop box you don’t have to wait for City Hall be open,” says Borling.
You can also drop it off at your local poling place on Tuesday.
It kind of defeats the purpose of getting the absentee ballot, but it’s permitted.
