PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Portage homeowner who stabbed and killed a Kalamazoo man who was breaking into cars outside his home will not be charged.
The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office says the man was acting in self defense when he killed 51-year-old Roy James Jr.
James pulled a knife when he was confronted by the homeowner and the two fought over it before the stabbing in the driveway on Cedarcrest Avenue last month.
Prosecutors say “a reasonable probability of conviction does not exist in this matter.”
