COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 31-year-old man died after falling 20 feet from a scissor lift at a vacant automotive parts manufacturing plant near Galesburg last week.
Comstock Township authories told WOOD TV-8 that the accident happened July 30 around 9:00 a.m. at the former Shiloh Industries plant on East Michigan Avenue near North 33rd Street. The plant had been shut down in March.
Workers at the scene told firefighters they had been removing a steel beam from the ceiling when it shifted and the scissor lift tipped over. The man was pinned against another upright steel beam. Workers were able to move the scissor lift using a forklift, freeing the man before first responders arrived.
When firefighters arrived, he did not have a pulse. They performed CPR and took him to the hospital, where he later died.
