KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There have been changes and improvements to mental health care in the Kalamazoo area, particularly in emergency response and the justice system, and a town forum on the subject is planned for Thursday morning downtown.
ALPACT Kalamazoo has invited a panel of local officials who deal with the issue on a daily basis to participate in a panel discussion.
That’s Ashante Collins, who says there will also be a presentation and question and answer session.
The aim is to encourage partnerships and understanding to promote better outcomes for the community.
The event gets underway at the Catalyst Center on Water Street downtown at 9 a.m. Thursday.
The forum is part of an educational campaign to mark Mental Health Awareness month.
You can register for the event online at this link.
ALPACT is an acronym for Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust, a voluntary coalition of community advocates, civil rights groups and police officers.
