KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A large-scale charitable dental clinic designed to address urgent dental needs and improve access to oral health care for underserved populations is coming back to Kalamazoo next month.
The Michigan Dental Association Foundation will host its Mission of Mercy free dental clinic Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13 at Wings Event Center.
Held every two years at a different location in the state, the Mission of Mercy coordinates volunteer dental professionals and community partners who will provide free dental care on a first-come, first-served basis to patients of all ages, regardless of income or residency.
The 2024 Mission of Mercy event in Flint provided more than $1 million in dental care to 659 patients, highlighting the ongoing need for accessible oral health services across Michigan.
“Mission of Mercy is about restoring health, dignity and hope for people who may otherwise go without dental care,” said Dr. Cate Nelson, Mission of Mercy local chair and dentist in Kalamazoo. “We are proud to partner with volunteers, community organizations and local public health departments to make a meaningful difference in the lives of hundreds of patients.”
